Frequently asked questions

What is a Reformed Church?

A reformed church is a denomination (branch) of Protestantism, which means we are part of a movement in Christianity that “protested” aspects of the Catholic Church in the early 1500’s. Our particular denomination is called the Reformed Church in America!

Are there instructions so I don't feel silly or out of place?

Yes, there are instructions so you don’t feel silly or out of place. You will be directed by the worship leader during the service, as well as the worship program (liturgy). To see an example of the liturgy, go to “Our Liturgy” under “What to Expect.”

Is church for members only?

No! We have many people who identify and join us as friends of the church community.

How much does it cost?

However you can be generous - whether with money or volunteering - we are grateful. We have a special time in the Fall (Stewardship Season) when we ask folks to let us know what they plan to give the next year and help us create a budget. You can donate in person or online, and all donations count as charitable deductions.

How do you do Communion? Do I have to join in?

Most typically, we take communion seated, which means we have servers in the congregation who take the bread and the individual portions of the cup to you. We use gluten-free bread and grape juice to make the table accessible to all. You are never required to join. It is always an invitation.

Can I rent the Fellowship Hall, Kitchen or small meeting rooms?

Yes! We have different rates for members, not-for-profits, and for-profit individuals and groups. Our Project Manager handles all the rentals. Call the office to inquire about the space, date, and time you would like to use our facilities, and she will get back to you the following Monday or Wednesday between 9 am - 12:30 pm, when she is in the office.

What if I'm not religious or of a different religion?

We are a community inspired by love, and that means we welcome anyone who would like to join us. If you would like to speak to the pastor about particular questions or spiritual direction, simply make an appointment by calling or sending an email.
