Missions We Support

We consider it a joy to be able to participate in God's greater mission. Click here to see some of the ways that God has called us to support God's work outside our own congregation.

We were privileged in October 2009 to welcome Pastor Simon Muntolol, a Maasai warrior and pastor in the Rift Valley of Kenya, to our congregation.   We gave Simon a gift to help pay for his daughter's recent heart surgery, and we hope to support the water project that is bringing a stable sense of life to members of the Maasai people group.  Once they have water, the women and children can stay in one area.  This means they can start a school and their children can become educated.  They can also plant gardens with the real hope that they will yield nutritious food for their families.

We are one of many congregations in Bergen County who provide meals for the homeless at the County Shelter in Hackensack.  We do this six times a year, and we ordinarily feed over 100 people each time.  It is our joy to be of service in this way, as our volunteers say they usually receive more than they feel they've given.

We have long supported overseas missionaries.  At the moment we participate in the medical mission of Dr. Norvelle and Peter Goff-Rudy, who minister among the Miskito Indians in Honduras.

Recently we farmed out a scandalously naked group of teddy bears to members of the congregation.  They were clothed and sent off to the Salvation Army's Tog-A-Teddy program.  Over the years we've sent well over 800 of these bears to folks who just needed a hug from a loveable friend.
